PETER SAGAN: 2010 TO 2014
It’s no secret the hottest free agent during this transfer season is Peter Sagan. The two main suitors appear to be Oleg Tinkoff and Fernando Alonso, two men with pockets deep enough to pay the rumored €3million price tag.
While Tinkoff has demurred on Twitter about any recent signing he has been known to use social media for obfuscation and distraction before. Peloton raided the archives of photographer Yuzuru Sunada to take a look at Peter’s five seasons of victories and close calls. Obviously missing from this archive are Peter’s exploits in North America, but none the less, the sheer volume of wins, 61 in total, make his asking price seem quite reasonable.
Pro Bike: Tony Martin’s Specialized S-Works Shiv
Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) won the Tour de France’s time trial with a healthy buffer aboard this custom painted Specialized S-Works Shiv. Martin rode the stage with a 58-tooth chainring, combined with SRAM’s long-cage Red WiFli rear derailleur and a wide 11-32 cassette. The big rear cog was mounted so that Martin could stay in the big ring over the entire course. He raced on custom painted Zipp tubular wheels. Specialized had previously announced that he would be racing on the company’s new Turbo Cotton clincher, but he ended up riding the tubular version instead. Photo: Caley Fretz | VeloNews.com
